Step Out The Box
Step Out The Box (SOTB) is a Steelton-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering families and youth through faith-based mentorship and community outreach. Founded by Amanda Pagan under the guiding principle "It Takes a Village," the organization focuses on helping individuals find their personal purpose while addressing critical local issues like violence, substance abuse, and domestic struggles. They are best known for hosting community awareness marches, "healing events" that provide safe spaces for sharing life testimonies, and providing essential resources through seasonal giveaways of food, clothing, and school supplies for low-income families in the Harrisburg and Steelton areas.
Love Thy Neighbor HBG
Love Thy Neighbor HBG is a youth outreach organization based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, that focuses on empowering at-risk youth through mentorship, education, and community service. Dedicated to breaking cycles of poverty and violence, the nonprofit provides a safe environment where young people can develop leadership skills, receive academic support, and engage in creative outlets like art and music. This is aimed at fostering a stronger, more connected neighborhood through the principle of service to others.
Educational Breakthroughs LLC
Educational Breakthroughs LLC is a private tutoring center in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, that provides personalized, Christ-centered academic support for students ranging from elementary school through college. Led by owner Deb Petersen—a Master’s level educator and NILD Educational Therapist—the organization specializes in individualized instruction for reading, writing, and math, with a specific focus on supporting students with learning challenges such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and ADHD. In addition to core subject mastery and executive function coaching, they offer comprehensive PSAT, SAT, and ACT test preparation and unique services like art therapy to help students build confidence and overcome academic barriers.

K & K Connections LLC is a Camp Hill-based nonprofit organization (also operating under the name Spectrum Spark Society) dedicated to supporting families navigating the autism journey. Founded by Christina Carden, a mother of two autistic sons, the organization focuses on bridging gaps in resources and representation, particularly within minority communities. Their mission is driven by the slogan "Don’t Assume, EDUCATE," providing a mix of advocacy, educational workshops, and "Spectrum Spark" social groups.
